Milk is still a no-brainer.

One of the things I love most about my Facebook page for The Cow Chronicler is that people come to me asking for help replying back to something that has upset them. Most recently, I had someone send me a link to an article that broke down why we SHOULDN’T be drinking milk. Well, I’m here to build back up the reasons why we SHOULD be drinking milk. I’m going to pull my favorite quotes (the one’s that make me laugh) and then tell you the real stuff. The good stuff. The #MilkTruth.

**Please note I did not comment on the “milk causing cancer statement.” I don’t know enough about the subject, nor was I able to find enough information to feel comfortable forming an educated opinion. Honesty is key, right? Sorry!**

The article starts off with a big bold line “It used to be a no-brainer. Almost everyone drank milk. Now, not so much. The reasons why are creating a healthy debate.”

  • Off to a great start. They missed a word inbetween “why” and “are” …. This should be a good, intellectual read for sure. *Feels IQ dropping*

“We’re not genetically evolved to process the proteins, fats, and sugars in cow’s milk.”

“There are large studies that show that there is no decrease in the amount of hip and other bone fractures in populations drinking larger amounts of milk.”

  • I wish I could just say “Shut up and drink milk because I said so.” But that’s not very nice, even if it is true.
  • 1 glass of milk gives you around 30% of the calcium your body needs. That’s 7 cups of broccoli. Or 10 cups of spinach. AKA a lot of green shit you have to throw in a smoothie and pretend you like.
  • Things that are in milk that are good for you: calcium, phosphorus, potassium, riboflavin, vitamin b-12, vitamin a, vitamin d and all other kinds of goodies. Not genetically evolved… what are we , cavemen?
  • And bro… THE PROTEIN! Do you even lift? (Food from the plate to your mouth does indeed count).

“Because the animals are confined, they’re eating a bad diet, they’re sick and they live, literally, on high doses of antibiotics.”

  • Think of a loved one in your life. If they were sick you would give them the medicine they needed to get better, right? Right. That’s what farmers do for their animals. Because they care for them… weird. Antibiotics are taken seriously to ensure the health and safety of animals and to make sure that it NEVER reaches a point of human consumption. Ask the USDA and FDA.
  • Wanna know what else farmers do for their animals because they care? They focus on their health. A LOT. Feed is one of the most (if not the most) expensive costs on the dairy, and the money is spent because it’s a big frickin’ deal. A lot of farms actually have a nutritionist that comes in and evaluates what your cows need and EXACTLY what you need to feed them to meet their nutrient requirements.
  • Cow comfort is also a big deal. Whether they’re inside or outside, making sure cows are happy is a number one priority. Check it out.

Ya dig? I dig. Drink milk. It’s as simple as that.
